That's not Fair

Sounds like the SOA Watch has replaced the old Chattahoochee Valley Fair as public safety's annual cash cow.

For years, police officers collected overtime pay or saved their vacation time so they could rack up extra money during the week of the Fair. Now we hear that the cost of security at the SOA Watch protest cost the city $147,302 this year with most of it going to pay for personnel.

Taxpayers may not like it and the duty can't be called fun. But for some of the police officers, sheriff's deputies and deputy marshalls, the extra money must come in handy around this time of the year.

Wonder if the Exchange Club has considered selling footlong hot dogs at the protest?

I have an idea Richard. Next year when the SOA shows up at the Government Center to get a permit for their annual march, let's charge them $147,302.00 for that priviledge.

Will that be cash or charge?
