A diet of egg and crow
ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit isn't the first reporter to find himself out on a limb that's ready to break.
Saturday morning, the member of the Game Day crew told the world that LSU head coach Les Miles was going to Michigan and that he was taking Georgia Tech assistant John Tenuta with him as defensive coordinator.
Two hours before the LSU-Tennessee SEC championship game, Miles said no, he was staying with the Tigers. Where that leaves Tenuta, currently Tech's interim coach, isn't clear. Miles is likely to need a defensive coordinator in Baton Rouge since Bo Pelini is said to be Nebraska's next head coach but that remains to be announced.
Confused? I've been confused this whole football season. But I do know how Herbstreit feels. I once reported that Johnny Majors was the new head coach at Georgia Tech — only he wasn't. To use a couple of old cliches, I had egg on my face and had to eat some crow.
Hope Kirk Herbstreit is ready for some egg and crow for that appears to be on his menu.
