Buddy Holley in Columbus....That'll be the day

On my way to look up something else, I discovered that Buddy Holley and the Crickets once played in Columbus. The note said they came here on Sept. 23, 1957 and that they played at the new Municipal Auditorium. Hard to believe that old dump was ever new, isn't it? Wonder who else performed here?

I saw The Young Rascals, Cannibal and the Head Hunters, The Shangralas, The ZOmbies, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Steve Alamo and the Action Kids from Where the Action Is, Ray Charles (un told times) James Brown. Loretta Lynn, Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Little Jimmy Dickens, Ferlon Huskie, Hank Snow, Flatt and Scruggs. Mooonicipal Auditorium (as Cousin Al would have said) had some tremendous music in its day.mc
