Lettuce hope for more

A salad bar without lettuce is like a day without sunshine, or something like that.

Went to Jason's Deli on Monday night. Wanted chicken pot pie and their usually outstanding salad bar. Oooops. They're out of chicken pot pie. Switched to red beans & rice with their usually outstanding salad bar. Paid our bill, picked up our salad bowls and walked to their usually outstanding salad bar.

Soggy lettuce was on the salad bar so I put some in my bowl. The woman behind me asked a worker about more lettuce. The attendent, who spoke little English, said no more lettuce. Mentioned the problem to someone behind the counter and he didn't give a damn. Started down the row and other containers were empty. Got to the other side and Kaye told me the attendent said no more raisins and no more cheese. Course if you asked that woman if she was an alien she would have said no more alien.

Told the manager of the problem and he seemed to care less. Suggested to him that if they were going to be open they ought to have food. Added that they ought to employ people that speak English since most of his customers speak that language. Asked for my $17.05 back and left my half-full bowl of salad sitting by the register. Felt good on the way out.

Went to Smokey Bones. Enjoyed the food. They had everything as advertised on the menu. The bill, including tip, was about $19.00 more than that place with the usually outstanding salad bar. But it was worth it to have a waitress who spoke the same language I did and to be able to eat what I ordered.

I am ticked off for you. How irritating to have something specific in mind and then they not have it--and NOT CARE.
I would prefer that people who work in this country be able to speak English. Should be a green card requirement.

It wasn't the lack of chicken pot pie that irritated me. I lived with that. It was a salad bar without the fixings. Habla?

Try Mac's Barbeque in Warm Springs- try rib plate---world's best- sandwiches are not as good. Brunswick stew is the best.

Mac's is new to me. I'll have to give it a taste.

Good for you Richard! It has happened to me before in Jason's , but I was too shy to ask for my money. I will next time!

My feeling is that when we feel good, we leave a tip. When we're unhappy, we should speak up. You don't have to be nasty, just truthful.
